Welcome to Patanavac Gundogs which was established in 1993 by John Cavana who has been training, breeding, working and competing with gundogs since 1987. His Kennels are based in the heart of the North Yorkshire moors with superb facilities.
Having competed in gundog working test and field trials with Cocker spaniels, English springer spaniels and Labradors, John has vast experience of dog training and problem solving.
John has owned several English Setters trained to work with falcons and do research work on the ground nesting birds on the North Yorkshire Moors, and trained several of the HPR (hunt point & retrieve) for both the gun and falcons.
John holds training sessions tailored to suit the needs of the individual and regularly visits countries in Europe to conduct seminars and gundog training.
Patanavac gundogs have traveled the length and breadth of the country performing gundog displays and demonstrations at shows large and small and have included the Royal Bath and West, CLA, Cleveland County, Bedfordshire County, Cumberland County and many more.
John has also trained several detection dogs and worked with the Armed forces and several Police force dog sections and trained dogs for film and TV appearances.
John has a vast knowledge of training dogs for the shooting field, as falconry dogs or as a well behaved household pets.
